Anti D Titre

An Anti‑D titer is a quantitative blood test measuring antibodies against the Rh(D) red‑cell antigen. It’s used mainly in Rh‑negative pregnant people to detect sensitization after exposure to Rh‑positive fetal blood. Rising or high titers indicate increasing maternal antibodies and higher risk of hemolytic disease of the fetus/newborn, prompting closer fetal surveillance and possible interventions.

The anti-dsDNA titer test measures antibodies against double‑stranded DNA. It is highly specific for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and helps support diagnosis and monitor disease activity, especially kidney involvement (lupus nephritis). Results are reported as titers or units using assays (ELISA, Farr, immunofluorescence). Rising levels often indicate active disease; loss of positivity may reflect remission.

There is no single normal antibody titer in pregnancy; it depends on the pathogen. Common protective cutoffs include rubella IgG ≥10 IU/mL (immune) and hepatitis B surface antibody ≥10 mIU/mL (protective). Varicella and other IgG results are assay-dependent. Lab reference ranges vary, so results should be interpreted by your clinician, who may repeat tests or use additional assays if needed.

A titre of 1:32 means antibodies are still detectable when the blood sample is diluted 32-fold; the reported value is the reciprocal of the highest dilution showing a positive reaction. Higher titres indicate more antibodies; interpretation depends on the specific test, timing, and disease. This result may suggest past infection or vaccination but needs clinical context, confirmatory testing, or comparison with prior titres.

Anti‑D positive means a person has circulating antibodies against the Rhesus D (RhD) red‑cell antigen. These IgG antibodies typically form after exposure to RhD‑positive blood (for example, from pregnancy or transfusion). They can cross the placenta and may cause hemolytic disease of the fetus/newborn or transfusion reactions.
