A positive Phadiatop means the blood test detected specific IgE antibodies to one or more common inhalant allergens. It indicates sensitization and supports an allergic cause for respiratory symptoms (rhinitis/asthma) but does not prove clinical allergy by itself. Clinical correlation and follow-up testing (individual specific-IgE or skin-prick testing) are usually required to identify the responsible allergen and guide treatment.

There are four common allergy types: food allergies (e.g., peanuts, shellfish) causing hives, vomiting or anaphylaxis; drug allergies (e.g., penicillin) causing rashes or severe reactions; insect‑sting allergies (bees, wasps) causing swelling or anaphylaxis; and environmental/seasonal allergies (pollen, dust mites, pet dander, mold) causing hay fever, sneezing, itchy eyes and asthma exacerbations.

The most common allergy in children is food allergy, with cow’s milk allergy the most frequent in infants and young children. Eggs and peanuts are also common triggers. Phadiatop is a laboratory screening test that measures specific IgE to a panel of common inhalant allergens and reports a combined positive/negative result. Phadiatop screens for atopic sensitization to airborne allergens but isn’t a total-IgE test and positive results usually prompt further single-allergen testing.

Very high IgE levels often indicate allergic or parasitic processes and can accompany atopic dermatitis, allergic asthma, or chronic sinus disease. Extremely elevated IgE may reflect rare immune disorders (e.g., hyper‑IgE syndrome) and associate with recurrent infections, severe eczema, wheeze, and increased allergy/anaphylaxis risk. Evaluation by a clinician, allergy testing, and treating the underlying cause are recommended.
