It’s almost ironic that this generation is split into those obsessed with junk food and those purging the habit. Fitness means different things to different people – being skinny, muscular, having six-pack abs, strength, and even beauty. Although the promotion of a regimen thriving on intense workouts, and an imbalanced lifestyle is almost distasteful, fitness does seem to be the crux of our health and life quality. People just haven’t cracked the code yet.

Most of us think our goal is to look like people on TV or in magazines but truly the contest is only with oneself and the battle is won when you’re the best version you can be. And right now there are so many options of workout programs, at home or the gym, which promise just that. The problem sometimes is with getting started, all the trends are intimidating, and the excuse of not having enough time is at the tip of our tongues.

Just as we do at the office, working smart precedes working hard. Being active all day through is more important than busting your hump for an hour at the gym. This helps serve your energy levels, clarity, focus, mental and physical strength. What most of us deal with are daily stressors, being tied to our chairs and computers, long hours in cars, eating unhealthy, drinking too much alcohol or coffee and not sleeping enough. It may seem like an easy fix, just undo things you know you’re doing wrong, but it takes the effort of 20 people as it involves a change in mindset.

With over half a year into our New Year resolutions, getting fit being on almost everyone’s lists, we need to take a step back and review our targets. We need to review whether our workout routines and workout plans are going accordingly. We have enough and more to keep us going, wearable technology gamifying the fitness experience, fun options like Zumba, Tabata, MMA, pool aerobics, newfangled forms of yoga, rope weight training and dancercise cardio. All-purpose gyms like Gold’s, Fitness First, and Talwalkars have opened their doors to turning the need for fitness into a ‘movement’. The best part of it all is we have iconic inspirations to follow suit. Ironman Milind Soman is running barefoot from Mumbai to Ahmedabad to inspire fellow citizens to take fitness seriously. The Nike Da Da Ding ad has motivational sports women muses taking fitness to an all new level.  And while it might seem natural to sports people, fitness buffs like Virat Kohli and Vijender Singh are catalysts to this movement. There have been champions of fitness from all fields. Bollywood stars like Deepika Padukone, Rahul Bose, Bipasha Basu, Farhan Akhtar, Parineeti Chopra, all have inspired and continue to inspire their followers in improving vitality and being functionally fit. The effort will never be easy but the results will always be worth it.

This newfound consciousness about fitness is working hard to keep today’s predominant health conditions at bay. Looking good, eating right and feeling good, is enough to keep the engines running.  The message of false expectations and balance is somehow going missing. The magic is in the mixing of all elements of fitness and we at Visit have the vision of a nation that is a combination of a more balanced, happy, mindful, strong and loving people. The choices we make today ripples out, shaping the future of tomorrow.

Remember to keep your fitness goals out of reach but never out of sight!

  1. Hmm it seems like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any helpful hints for rookie blog writers? I’d genuinely appreciate it.
